Why this site exists…

We want to be remembered for our content, not our technological achievements.
Just an Asterisk came from years of helping people in IT. Despite my best efforts to provide a simple set of tools to make life easier, it always seemed to be informational overload. There was simply too much technology to absorb and too many sources for that information. Moreover, it often seemed like technology was overshadowing the content. To me, this is simply unacceptable.

The goal of the site is to provide short(ish) articles that create a toolkit for everyday work. Other sites exist to provide details on technology and new events. This site exists just to present basics that you can use everyday. The quantity will probably not be more than 1 post per week. This provides a bit of time to try out the week’s tip. Also, I’m open to suggestions – please feel free to email posts@justanasterisk.com.

This isn’t to say that I’m against technology - I live and breath technology. However, chances are that you don’t and this site is for you.

Remember: technology is just an asterisk (or footnote) on our otherwise noteworthy acheivements.

All the very best in your creative endeavors,

Alex
