I did everything Alex suggested above, then added the new GMail Account to my iPhone. Set up rules in Outlook to put a copy of emails from selected contacts and/or with selected keywords into the Imap Folder in Outlook. I also set up my Gmail Account to reply from my main outlook account. So now I have an email account on my iphone that only includes important email messages, nothing else. I'm sure there are easier workarounds, that was mine.
