The Kindle Book Club

Although I am technology obsessed, I do have other interests.  The largest of which, if you couldn’t tell from my previous posts, is reading.  I spend more time reading on my kindle than on the web  (try to believe me) or anywhere else.  I’m a bit of an addict.  As I’ve posted before, I really can’t find many kindle book clubs out there.

As I normally do on a Sunday, I decided to solve my own problem.  I’ve created a book club for kindle readers using a platform called Ning.  You can get to it at http://kindlebookclub.ning.com.  The site is just getting going, but it should be a place where you can:

1. Share books you think are worthy of being the kindle book of the month

2. Delight your fellow readers with your wit and charm while discussing the current book, or any other that you’ve found interesting.

3. Participate in live events, such as book discussions and debates in real-time using a chat client built right into the site.

4. Buy books directly from the site when the links are posted (via Amazon).

Sound like fun?  If you have a kindle reader and want to join, just head over to http://kindlebookclub.ning.com and participate.  If you don’t have a kindle, you can always just join for fun and the lovely literary banter.  Either way, your life is getting sunnier no?

See you guys there.

Just wanted to let you know that there is a very active community at http://www.kindleboards.com with more than 5,000 members. There’s also a whole section for book reviews and suggestions.

I hope you don’t mind me posting this, I just noticed you said you hadn’t found very many Kindle reading clubs. Feel free to delete my post if you don’t want it Kindle Boards mentioned here.

I’m not affiliated, just a recently joined member there.

I like the site, it’s not that I don’t, but it lacks focus (to me at least). The goal of the kindle book club is to provide a site where the book club (with only kindle books) is the meat. I’ve found great ideas on the kindleboards, but they don’t make it easy to simply join a club, vote for a book and then discuss with your fellow readers (in an organized fashion).

Thanks for adding the link though – I think that most kindle readers will really enjoy both sites.
